Day 2: Boarding, Bumps, and Small Moments in the Aisle

Boarding time—except my name got called over the intercom, and I didn’t hear it. One of my teammates came up to me and said,
“Hey, I think they called your name. They said you need to go to the gate for passport verification.”

I was like, “Oh! I didn’t hear that—thanks for letting me know!”
I grabbed my stuff and headed to the gate, then waited until I was called up.

I handed them my passport. If they asked me any other questions, I honestly didn’t hear most of them. The only one I caught was, “Did you check in?”
I think my answer was something like, “Well… yeah, on my app.”

Turns out, they wanted me to check in before going through security. But nah—it all worked out. I checked in using the app, and honestly, it was less of a hassle anyway. Then came boarding.

I’ll tell you this: I’m not a big fan of facial recognition technology. When it was my turn, I completely walked past the device and immediately handed my passport to the flight attendant for verification. What’s wild to me is that people still let their faces be scanned—even though it’s completely optional.

I get it. It’s not like my face isn’t already out there on the internet, but still—it just feels like they keep asking for more and more verification. It’s exhausting.
