When God calls, sometimes the next step is simply obedience. Thomsen Young recounts how a summer mission trip to North Africa revealed unexpected lessons about faith, endurance, and divine provision.
The Call That Changed Everything
In late June, I embarked on a mission journey that reshaped how I see faith, connection, and God’s work across cultures. Just a few months earlier, I had felt an unmistakable tug on my heart—a quiet but persistent call to serve Christ more intentionally. I didn’t yet know what that would look like, but God did.
Not long after, I learned that my church—Harvest Point Community Church (name changed)—was organizing a short-term mission trip to North Africa. I knew immediately that this was the opportunity God had been preparing me for.
With generous support—both prayerful and financial—I joined a small team traveling to the region. We spent just over a week on the ground, immersed in daily life and building relationships with people who, in many cases, had never met a Christian before. Every shared meal, every exchange of smiles, every conversation felt like planting seeds of eternal significance.

Our journey was inspired by Luke 10, where Jesus sends out the seventy-two disciples with minimal provisions, relying on the hospitality of others. The intense North African heat tested our endurance, yet reminded us of Christ’s own journeys through harsh terrain to reach people with love and truth.
And God met us there—in open doors, warm welcomes, and quiet moments of grace. His provision was constant, often arriving through unexpected acts of kindness that reminded us of His faithfulness.
