Following God’s Call: From North Africa to Honduras
When I first stepped onto the mission field in North Africa, I didn’t fully know what to expect. The culture, language, and atmosphere were all new to me — yet God met me there in quiet, powerful ways. I saw what it means to follow Jesus faithfully in places where it isn’t always easy. I learned that the gospel moves not just through preaching, but through relationships, humility, and prayer.
That experience changed me. I realized that missions aren’t about bringing something to others as much as they are about God transforming us through others. I saw that the strength of the gospel isn’t in how loudly it’s proclaimed, but in how lovingly it’s lived out.
Then came Honduras — a completely different kind of mission field, full of joy, warmth, and community. The people there welcomed us with open hearts and open homes. I saw God’s presence in their laughter, in their resilience, and in their worship. Even with language barriers and limited resources, the Holy Spirit was at work in every prayer, every conversation, every shared meal.
Through both of these journeys, I came to understand that each mission is a classroom of faith. North Africa taught me quiet obedience and patience. Honduras taught me joyful service and community. Both revealed that God’s love reaches further than I ever imagined.
As I prepare for my next mission to Cambodia, I carry those lessons with me — humility, gratitude, and the belief that every act of service, no matter how small, can reveal Christ’s love. I don’t go because I have all the answers; I go because I’ve seen what God can do when we simply say “yes.”
With love and gratitude,
Thomsen
